Algin
Algin · Sodium Alginate
A seaweed-derived polysaccharide used as a gelling and film-forming agent, common in peel-off masks.
What it does
Algin is a polysaccharide extracted from brown seaweed. It thickens and gels water and, with calcium present, sets into a rubbery film, so it is used to thicken formulas and to form peel-off (alginate) masks. It is a texture-and-film ingredient rather than a skin active.
Also known as
sodium alginate, alginate
