Amodimethicone
A conditioning silicone that clings to hair, smoothing it and cutting static and tangles.
What it does
It’s a silicone with amine groups that carry a slight positive charge, so it clings to hair, most of all to damaged spots. That smooths strands, eases tangles and cuts static.
The evidence, graded
expert consensusUS safety reviewers (final amended report, 2022) assessed 30 dimethicone and methicone silicones, most used to condition skin and hair. Stearyl, cetyl and vinyl dimethicone, amodimethicone and methicone are named in their conclusion. They judged all 30 safe as used in products made to be non-irritating. They had too little data to judge airbrush sprays.Raj 2022 · Cosmetic Ingredient Review ↗
