Amylcinnamyl Alcohol

What it does

Amylcinnamyl alcohol is a synthetic aromatic alcohol with a soft floral, slightly balsamic scent, used purely as a fragrance component. It is one of the 26 fragrance ingredients the EU Cosmetics Regulation requires to be listed by name when present above 0.001% in a leave-on product (0.01% rinse-off), because sensitization has been documented. On patch testing it comes up positive far less often than the top-tier fragrance allergens. It does nothing functional for skin.
