Behenyl Alcohol

Behenyl AlcoholBarrier

A fatty alcohol (not the drying kind) that thickens creams and softens skin with a rich, cushiony feel.

What it does

Despite the word "alcohol", behenyl alcohol is a waxy fatty alcohol that conditions and softens — the opposite of the drying, volatile alcohols. It thickens emulsions and gives richer creams their body and slip. It is a gentle, structure-and-feel ingredient common in moisturizers.
