Camellia Japonica Flower Extract

Camellia Japonica Flower ExtractAntioxidant

A flower extract from the Camellia japonica plant — rich in flavonoids and saponins, used as a supporting plant antioxidant.

What it does

Camellia japonica flower extract is drawn from the petals of the same plant whose seeds yield Tsubaki oil. The flower-derived extract is a different prep from the oil and concentrates flavonoids (quercetin, kaempferol), saponins, and tannins rather than fatty acids. In a formula it contributes antioxidant activity and a mild astringent feel. Often used in hydrating and soothing formulas as a botanical supporting ingredient.
