Cellulose Gum

Cellulose Gum · Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose

A plant-derived thickener and film-former that adds body to gels and helps spread a formula smoothly.

What it does

Cellulose gum is derived from plant cellulose and thickens water-based formulas, stabilizes them, and forms a light film that improves slip. It is a common, well-tolerated texture ingredient in gels, cleansers, and lotions. It stays on the surface and rinses away; it does not act on the skin.

Also known as

carboxymethylcellulose, cmc
