A synthetic red lake pigment used as a color additive in lip and color products — present to color the formula, not for any skin effect.
What it does
CI 15850 is the colorant code for Lithol Rubin B, a synthetic monoazo dye, typically supplied as a calcium or barium lake (the chromophore bound to a mineral substrate to make it insoluble and stable in oil-phase or anhydrous color products). It is most common in lip products, blushes, and other color cosmetics. Its only role in the formula is visual color — there is no documented skin-care effect.
Also known as
red 7 lake, d&c red no. 7, lithol rubin b
