What it does
Citrus limon fruit extract is a water or alcohol extract from lemon fruit. It contains citric acid, flavonoids (hesperidin, eriocitrin, diosmin), and vitamin C-related compounds. These give it mild antioxidant and brightening effects. The citric acid level is too low for real exfoliation at normal skin care amounts. Unlike lemon peel oil, this extract has far lower furocoumarin levels, so the risk of sun reactions is lower — but still present. Using it in daytime routines without SPF is not advised. Well-tolerated by most skin types at typical use levels.
