Dextrin Palmitate
Dextrin Palmitate
Helps oil and water mix and keeps powders from clumping.
What it does
It’s made by joining dextrin, a starch from plants, to palmitic acid, a fatty acid. It’s there for texture, not to change your skin.
The evidence, graded
expert consensusUS safety reviewers (2015) assessed 106 polysaccharide gums, which products use to thicken. They judged 105 safe as used, among them dextrin, dextrin palmitate, tapioca starch, algin, pectin, amylopectin and galactoarabinan; for hydrolyzed carrageenan they had too little data. They were concerned about chemicals used to modify some gums and asked makers to limit impurities.Johnson 2015 · Cosmetic Ingredient Review ↗
