Diethylhexyl Syringylidenemalonate
Diethylhexyl SyringylidenemalonateSPF filter
A UV-filter photostabilizer that helps the rest of the sunscreen filters in a formula keep working longer in sunlight.
What it does
Diethylhexyl Syringylidenemalonate is an oil-soluble molecule used in sunscreen formulas to extend the photostability of organic UV filters (notably avobenzone), so the overall SPF holds up better over the hours after application. It is approved as a UV filter in some regions and as a stabilizer in others; in either role its job is to keep the sunscreen system intact rather than to deliver a separate skin-care effect.
