Essential Oils

Concentrated plant aromatics — a class label, not a single ingredient. Individual oils have very different safety profiles.

What it does

Essential oils are highly concentrated volatile plant compounds. The class spans hundreds of species — some are gentle (chamomile, true lavender) and some are reproductive-system actives or potent allergens (clary sage, tea tree, neem, citrus oils). Drop treats each species as its own ingredient with its own contraindications; see the per-species entries (tea_tree_oil, clary_sage_oil, neem_extract, lavender_oil, bergamot_oil, lemon_oil, etc.) for the actual safety calls. The class label exists for browsing / cross-referencing only — the engine does not enforce contraindications at the class level.

This page is public and indexed on purpose (unlike profiles and drops, which are unlisted) — it’s the citation behind shared ingredient cards, and it should be findable.
