Gold (Colloidal / CI 77480)
Gold · Colloidal Gold · CI 77480
Suspended nano- or microscale gold particles included in some luxury skincare formulas for visual effect — there is no demonstrated topical skin benefit.
What it does
Gold in skincare appears as colloidal gold (gold particles suspended in a liquid carrier) or as a CI 77480 pigment in color cosmetics. Marketers position it as a luxury actives ingredient, but published evidence for a topical cosmetic benefit from gold particles is essentially absent — at the dose carried in a formula gold is inert at the skin surface and does not penetrate. Its presence is a visual and brand-positioning choice, not a chemistry-driven active.
