Isopropyl PalmitateBarrier
Silky synthetic emollient similar to IPM. Slightly heavier feel; same comedogenic-flag history.
What it does
Isopropyl palmitate is in the same fatty-alcohol-ester family as isopropyl myristate, with a slightly longer chain and a heavier feel. Common in body care, makeup, and hair products. Carries the same older comedogenicity flag as IPM. If you're acne-prone and a product agrees with you, the comedogenicity rankings don't matter; if it doesn't, IPP is one of the suspects.
The evidence, graded
moderateSome occlusives (cocoa butter, coconut oil, isopropyl myristate, certain plant butters) can be comedogenic on acne-prone skin. Lighter occlusives (squalane, mineral oil, hyaluronic acid, glycerin) are generally non-comedogenic in published data.Kligman 1972 · Archives of Dermatology ↗
Graded per the methodology: strong · moderate · emerging · expert consensus. A weak source on a strong claim gets the weaker label.
