Levulinic Acid
Levulinic Acid
A plant-derived acid used to adjust pH and, with its salt, to help keep a formula fresh.
What it does
Levulinic acid is a small organic acid usually made from plant sugars. It is used to fine-tune a formula's pH and, paired with sodium levulinate, to help suppress microbial growth as part of a gentle preservative system. It is a pH-and-freshness ingredient rather than a skin active.
This page is public and indexed on purpose (unlike profiles and drops, which are unlisted) — it’s the citation behind shared ingredient cards, and it should be findable.
