Menthyl Lactate
Menthyl Lactate
A menthol derivative used to give a gentle, long-lasting cooling sensation with little odor.
What it does
Menthyl Lactate is an ester of menthol and lactic acid. It triggers the skin's cold-sensing receptors to give a mild, lasting cooling feel, with much less minty smell and sting than menthol itself, so it is used as a sensory cooling agent. It is a sensory ingredient rather than a skin active.
