Polyglyceryl-10 Oleate

Polyglyceryl-10 OleateBarrier

Gives a product a softer, smoother feel on skin.

What it does

It’s made by joining ten glycerin units to oleic acid, so it mixes with water. It’s there for texture, not to change your skin.

The evidence, graded

expert consensusUS safety reviewers (2023) assessed 274 polyglyceryl fatty acid esters, mostly used to condition skin or help oil and water mix. Their conclusion lists all 274 by name. They judged them safe as used, in products made not to irritate. Some can help other ingredients pass into skin, so they asked makers to take care when combining them. In one case report, a woman with an itchy rash reacted in patch tests to polyglyceryl-10, -4 and -6 laurate.Fiume 2023 · International Journal of Toxicology ↗
