Polysilicone-15
A UVB filter built on a silicone chain — a supporting filter in EU sunscreens, not a US sunscreen active.
What it does
Polysilicone-15 absorbs UVB light, peaking around 310 nm. It does not cover UVA. On its own it adds only a little protection: at its maximum EU strength (10%) it gave an SPF under 4 in testing. So it works as a supporting filter beside others, not as the main one. The EU permits it up to 10%, and its safety assessment measured about 2% absorbed through skin. It is not on the US FDA's list of sunscreen actives.
The evidence, graded
Graded per the methodology: strong · moderate · emerging · expert consensus. A weak source on a strong claim gets the weaker label.
