What it does
Sodium polyacrylate is a highly water-absorbent polymer. Even a small amount swells in water to build a smooth, stable gel, so it is used as a thickener and to stabilize emulsions and suspend other ingredients. It gives a light, silky feel. It is a structural texture ingredient rather than a skin active.
