Solanum Melongena (Eggplant) Fruit Extract · Solanum Melongena Fruit ExtractAntioxidant

Extract from eggplant fruit rich in nasunin and chlorogenic acid. A botanical antioxidant popular in K-beauty and natural skincare formulas.

What it does

Solanum melongena (eggplant / aubergine) fruit extract contains nasunin, a delphinidin-based anthocyanin that gives eggplant its deep purple colour and acts as a potent antioxidant in cell-free ORAC assays. It also provides chlorogenic acid, other hydroxycinnamic acids, and phenolic compounds. In vitro research documents antioxidant and mild anti-inflammatory activity. As a cosmetic ingredient it functions as a botanical antioxidant and pigmentation adjunct, often appearing in 'brightening' and 'antioxidant boost' formulations in K-beauty and clean beauty lines. Human clinical trial data for topical use specifically is limited; most mechanistic evidence comes from food-science and in vitro studies. Well-tolerated at cosmetic concentrations; does not confer the characteristic purple pigment in formulated use.
