Sucrose Stearate
Sucrose StearateBarrier
A sugar-based nonionic emulsifier used to blend oil and water and to give a soft, light feel.
What it does
Sucrose Stearate is an ester of sucrose (table sugar) and stearic acid. Its sugar part is water-loving and its fatty part is oil-loving, so it emulsifies oil and water into gentle creams and lotions and contributes a smooth, light skin feel. It is a formulation ingredient rather than a skin active.
