An amino acid found in sweat. Sweat's amino acids resemble those of the skin's own moisture system.

What it does

Threonine is an amino acid. One study found it among the free amino acids in human sweat, a mix that resembles profilaggrin, the protein the skin's natural moisturising factor comes from. No study Drop has read tested threonine in a product.

The evidence, graded

emergingOne study analysed fresh sweat from 12 healthy people and found threonine among its free amino acids, after serine, glycine, PCA, alanine and citrulline. The authors note that sweat's amino acid mix resembles profilaggrin, the protein the skin's natural moisturising factor comes from. The study did not test threonine in skincare.Mark 2013 · Int J Cosmet Sci ↗
