Tocopheryl AcetateAntioxidant
The shelf-stable ester form of vitamin E, used widely to protect formulas from oxidation and add light antioxidant support.
What it does
Tocopheryl acetate is vitamin E in an acetate form that resists going rancid, which makes it easier to formulate with than pure tocopherol. In the product it helps protect oils and other ingredients from oxidizing. On skin the acetate must be converted to active vitamin E, so its direct antioxidant punch is more modest than free tocopherol — it is dependable and stabilizing rather than a powerhouse active.
