A newer, very sun-stable filter for UVB and shorter UVA — EU-permitted since 2014, never in sprays; not a US active.

What it does

Tris-biphenyl triazine is used as fine particles. They absorb UVB and the shorter UVA-II band, peaking around 310 nm. Longer UVA-I light is only scattered, not absorbed, so a formula still needs a UVA-I filter for full UVA cover. In testing it held up very well in sunlight: SPF and UVA protection did not change after two hours under a solar simulator. The EU has permitted it up to 10% since 2014, only as uncoated particles and not in sprays. Its safety review cleared it for use on skin but lacked data on breathing it in. It is not on the US FDA's list of sunscreen actives.
