Vegetable Oil
Vegetable Oil · Olus OilBarrier
A plant-oil mix whose makeup varies from product to product.
What it does
The label name covers a mix of plant oils rather than one named oil, so what’s in it can change from product to product. It gives a formula slip and a richer feel.
The evidence, graded
expert consensusUS safety reviewers (2017) judged 244 plant oils safe as used, and their list names vegetable (olus) oil. They say oils are used to soften skin and seal in moisture. Vegetable oil is a blend of different oils with no set makeup. So they judged it safe only when every oil in the blend has a known fatty acid makeup. They asked makers to limit pesticide residues and heavy metals.Burnett 2017 · International Journal of Toxicology ↗
Graded per the methodology: strong · moderate · emerging · expert consensus. A weak source on a strong claim gets the weaker label.
