An extract from cabbage leaves, used as an antioxidant ingredient.
What it does
Delivers antioxidants that help neutralise free radicals in a test tube. In the one skin study Drop has read, both sides of the face got the extract, in a gel or in a liquid. So it cannot show what the extract itself does for skin.
The evidence, graded
emergingThe one cabbage study Drop has read put red cabbage leaf extract in a carrier gel. It compared that with the same extract in a plain liquid, one on each side of the face. The abstract reports significant effects on moisture, smoothness, redness, oil and other skin measures for the gel. Both sides had the extract, so the study cannot show the extract itself does anything. Its antioxidant power was measured in a test tube.Khan 2022 · Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology ↗
