Homosalate
Chemical UVB filter. Effective and stable, but on the EU's 2022 'restricted in cosmetics' list pending hormonal-effect review.
What it does
Homosalate absorbs short-wave UVB radiation and is one of the more common chemical SPF filters in US sunscreens. It's photostable and well-tolerated by most skin types. The EU restricted it to 7.34% in 2022 (down from 10%) over endocrine-disruption concerns based on in-vitro data; the FDA has not changed its US rules. Mineral filter alternatives (zinc, titanium) avoid the question entirely if the topic concerns you.
