What it does
Prickly pear stem extract comes from the cactus pad (nopal), not the seed. The pad is dense with plant fibers and sugars that hold water and give skin a smooth feel. It also carries betalains — the plant's red pigments — along with vitamin C and other antioxidants. Most evidence is from lab tests rather than human skin studies. The extract is used as a skin conditioner and antioxidant additive in clean-beauty formulas. Well-tolerated at standard skincare amounts.
