Mid-weight nut oil. Pleasant skin feel; tree-nut-allergic users should avoid.

What it does

Sweet almond oil is a moderate-weight oleic-dominant oil with vitamin E and a soft skin feel. Common in body oils, baby-skin formulations, and gentle facial moisturizers. Tree-nut-allergic users should avoid topical use — the protein content is low after refining but not zero.

The evidence, graded

expert consensusSweet almond oil has documented skin-care benefits for stratum corneum integrity, recovery and lipid ratio. The review establishing this is explicit that the literature contains discrepancies and questionable study designs, and that outcomes depend heavily on oil quality and formulation.Blaak 2022 · International journal of cosmetic science
