Hemp Seed Oil
Cannabis Sativa Seed OilBarrier
Linoleic-acid-rich oil with omega-3 content. Lightweight; suitable for combination and oily skin.
What it does
Hemp seed oil has a 3:1 ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids — uncommon among plant oils — plus around 55% linoleic acid. The fatty-acid profile fits skin barrier lipids well, making it a reasonable pick for acne-prone and fungal-acne-prone skin. Hemp seed oil is not the same as CBD oil; the former is from seeds (no cannabinoids), the latter is an extract with regulatory considerations.
The evidence, graded
strongThe skin's barrier is built from ceramides, cholesterol, and free fatty acids in a roughly 1:1:1 to 3:1:1 ratio. Moisturizers formulated to mimic that ratio support barrier repair more than any one lipid alone.Man 1996 · Journal of Investigative Dermatology ↗
